No other development in the history of media has exposed publishers to greater challenges than the Internet. The circulation of newspapers is diminishing, they are being folded and their concept as such is put into doubt. Business models lose their viability. Journalism itself suffers an identity crisis. On the other hand, several online media have proven that high journalistic quality and commercial success need not to be a contradiction.
How does one achieve that? How do you turn the website of a print publication – that allegedly only costs money – into a viable publishing product that also manages to be commercially successful?
This website as well as my work as a consultant is dedicated to this subject. The articles in this section, at this point only in German, deal with some of the fundamental issues of the transformation of the still largely print-oriented (trade) media industry towards integrated cross-media brands with strong online components.
